RACE TO EQUITY

Finding the pieces to the Culture of the North puzzle

The Race to Equity will be a community engaging event that allows for cultural education to be digested in a fun way, inspired by the Amazing Race. The race will begin at the local YMCA of Northeastern Ontario and expand into the downtown core. Registered teams (of 2 participants) will be tasked with finding puzzle pieces that are hidden within a specific radius. Each puzzle piece will contain information and findings from the COTN project. The first team to complete their puzzle and share their learnings to the Future North team will be awarded the Grand Prize ($500 CASH).

For community members that wish to attend the event but not take part in the race, there will be entertainment, booths showcasing BIPOC businesses, and art workshops!

Join our Amazing Race inspired event!

Future North is organizing this event to (1) share the findings of the COTN project, (2) celebrate the hard work of the BIPOC youth and staff from the Equity Action Teams, (3) amplify BIPOC businesses, (4) bring community members together and foster a sense of belonging, (5) offer an opportunity for growth and learning towards active antiracism.

Date: Saturday, March 23, 2024  Time: 11:00 am – 3:00 pm

Place: YMCA of Northeastern Ontario, 140 Durham St (outside)
